Thomas D. Mangelsen’s Polar Dance Selected as One of The Most Important Nature Photos of All Time

Tom is pleased to announce Polar Dance has been chosen for inclusion in a unique collection that represents the 40 most important nature photographs of all time.

In celebration of Earth Day’s 40th anniversary, the International League of Conservation Photographers, a fellowship of the top professional conservation photographers, was recruited to nominate nature photographs that member photographers considered to be “the best”. The Top Forty nominations represent a diverse spectrum of styles and genres spanning over 100 years of photography history, and include spectacular images of animals, plants and natural landscapes.

These Top Forty iconic nature photographs are a part of Christie’s Green Auction in support of Conservation International, Oceana, Natural Resources Defense Council, and the Central Park Conservancy.

Christie’s Green Auction: A Bid to Save the Earth was held on April 22, 2010 at Christie’s in New York. A companion silent auction was held from April 8th through May 6th. Tom has generously donated a signed, framed Artist Proof print of Polar Dance.
